Just rent it, how will they know that you dont live there anymore?

You’ll need to check with an expert (property manager, lawyer, realtor, etc.) for the rules in your state. Where I live, you are always allowed to rent a property, even if your hoa or lease states otherwise.

You probably can’t and are at risk of repercussions if you try to do this. The rule against renters is in the best interest of the other, non-renting homeowners as renters don’t have the vested interest in keeping the place up or maintaing good relations by keeping their behavior and noise within reasonable bounds.

I used to work as a supervisor for 35-40 multi-unit properties that didn’t allow homeowners to rent and we pursued violations pretty rigorously – tentants tended to be disruptive and cause problems for other homeowners.

To find out exactly what is allowed you’ll want to look up any Florida specific laws or ordinances relating to this (can’t help you on that, I’m in CA) and also read through the body of your condo association rules carefully. You may also have City or County ordinances that address this. You could also try finding out from local organizations, I’ve found they are most helpful when I call pretending to be the tenant and working backwards…not many organziations are willing to help landlords for free.

is there some type of clause regarding employment and relocation? Perhaps you could tell them that your employer is relocating and you are going with them

  5. Doctor Deth Says:

that was probably clearly spelled out when you bought it – FLA real estate is going to be one of the last areas to recover – years from now – no buyers except bargain hunters – you might have to just walk away and foreclose

  6. Jonathan V Says:

I moved from Florida to North Carolina last year, so I’m not sure who I could contact to help you. Here is a resource of apartments in Florida that you can call. I’m sure someone can help you.

Hope you find what you need
