What are the legalities of selling something, using your apartment or house as the place of sale?
Hi –
Suppose I wished to sell small herb plants that I had grown from seed, or
plants that I had potted from cuttings ..
or even things like craft items….. paper snowflakes, stars, etc ..
… but from my own home…. if I did not wish to give them away but would sell them….
…then what are the legalities? Would I need a permit to sell within an apartment .. or a business number … or ???
Thank you in advance
Peace & Love

These thing s are very area specific; contact your local zoning for specifics aboout permits and such; and look thru IRS.gov and your state for tax information.
Good luck

I’m answering this assuming your in the United States. I’m in a similar situation. If you want to do it by the book, you will need to claim your earnings as income in your regular income taxes using your SSN. The good part is that you can deduct all your expenses that come from this business. It’s best to consult an accountant for the most accurate advice for you. As far as I know, you do not need a permit to work out of your home. Call your local courthouse and they can let you know for sure.
