My Landlord sold the apartment complex we live in does new owner have to keep the lease? galveston texas?
Can they kick us out? And how long would they have to give us? The apartment complex is small only 12 units. A investment company is buying it. Old owner is asking us how long we would like to sign the lease for has to turn in all leases by friday.

It depends on the verbiage of the lease. If the lease is binding upon its successors, heirs or assigns, then the new owner must legally honor the lease.

I am not familiar with Texas Tenancy law.
Having said that, it sounds like it would not be in the best interests of the new owners to just kick everyone out. Sign a new lease for no more than 2 years. There might be a possibility of this complex going Co-op, or Condo. If that happens, you might find yourself in a better position than you are today with the new owners. Do some asking around about the investment company who is buying the complex.
But at least sign the lease, and read and understand about eviction procedures in your state. You can’t be kicked out overnight, anyway. They have to give you ample time to find a new place. At least here in New Jersey, they do.
